We had superb session on June 18th when members of the Royal Navy Judo Club visited us for a joint training session.
It was fantastic to see such a good turnout from both clubs, creating a busy evening of instruction, technical practice and plenty of randori with new training partners.
One of the great strengths of judo is the willingness of clubs to train together. While we all have our own coaching styles and regular training partners, inviting other clubs onto the mat allows everyone to experience different techniques, body types and approaches to judo. It’s an excellent way to continue learning in a friendly and respectful environment.
Sessions like these also remind us that judo is much more than simply learning throws. It is part of a wider community where clubs regularly work together, sharing knowledge and helping one another to develop.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced competitor, training alongside different judoka is one of the best ways to improve while making new friends within the sport.
A big thank you to everyone from the Royal Navy Judo Club for making the journey to Yeovil. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and look forward to welcoming you back to Westland Judo Club in the future.
